Our Little Preschool

Me and some friends of mine started a preschool co-op with our five kids. We meet 2 days a week for 2 1/2 hours and take turns teaching. All 3 of the other moms are really great teachers and it is fun to see how far all the kids have progressed since September.

This picture was taken and "enhanced" by one of the other moms who happens to be terribly creative and artistic. I love it! Car & Cam are on the red and blue chairs.

Ever buy something that you later can't find at home?

About 2 months ago I bought some sausage (keilbasa type) and had it in the fridge... and twice went to get it to make some jumbalaya and couldn't find it. I chalked it up to the "pregnancy brain" and just thought that maybe I thought I bought it but really hadn't.

Well, I was laying in our front room on the loveseat the other day (my favorite place... it perfectly rests my ginormous belly) and thought "this cushion is sticking out kinda" and so I reached back and felt something strange. And when I pulled it out, I finally realized I wasn't losing my mind! It was the sausage, perfectly stashed under & between the cushions... and guess who the culprit was... Annie!

She still knows how to open the fridge door and apparently was up to her old tricks in stashing things. (The loveseat is her favorite place for bones!) The kids thought it was pretty funny too!

Fishing in the Fall

Some good friends of ours here in Paso gave Carolyn & Cameron fishing poles (the real deal - no pun intended) for their 3rd birthdays! They would cast in the backyard and "fish"off the balcony catching dum-dum suckers once in a while. And they would cross lines A LOT and tangle their lines A LOT! So after a year of practice we were able to take them fishing. (Brett was conveniently at work :)) This is Larry helping Carolyn take her first fish off. Look at her hands!

Cameron and Carolyn caught about 6 or 7 fish each and they started catching them as soon as they got their worms in the water! It was a great day! This is Cameron's last fish, his 2nd bass and biggest fish of the day! (I got to help reel it in with him!)

On the first bass Cameron caught, Larry had told him he needed to kiss it. That almost made Cameron not want to go fishing! So Larry kissed it! (And you wonder why Brett was at work!) Cameron was pretty glad he wasn't doing the kissing!

This is Carolyn's first fish! A bluegill! She started off fishing with Kathy, Larry's wife, (who has an amazing cast for someone who says they don't like to fish!) but when Cameron caught a fish with Larry right away, Carolyn decided that Kathy wasn't good enough so she planted herself in Larry's lap and never moved!

This was Cameron's first fish! Larry had to do all the "taking off of the fish" and releasing them... but I did put the nightcrawlers on the hook! (But I would only use the ones that Larry had already ripped in half!)

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

For those of you who don't know yet, the triplets I am carrying are all 3 boys! And at one of my last doctor visits they were all 3 head to head (that's what the picture above is!). When the doctor saw this he said, "Look, a meeting of the minds". "Yes", I said and laughed... and thought in my mind - it looks more like 3 conspiring little boys already!

I had another doctors appointment today (one every week) and here are my stats:
  • I am in my 26th week... (and still not on bedrest.... amazing! and feeling very blessed!)
  • I have gained 22 lbs. (need to gain some more...)
  • I am officially the size of a full term singleton pregnancy - with 8 more weeks to go! (Can you say "stretch marks!")

Like I said above, I am feeling really blessed! Brett is really helpful with Carolyn & Cameron as well as all the other household duties. He is quick to step in when I say "I need to lay down", and I feel like I am able to rest when needed! Life is good!

Special Bond

I should have taken a picture but I didn't want to wake them. Last night when I went in to check on Carolyn and Cameron they weren't in their beds. They were laying on the floor between the beds with their own covers curled up right next to each other. I hope they always stay this close!

So you want to Raise a Boy

I got a new book for Christmas called, "So you want to Raise a Boy" by W. Cleon Skousen. I started off from the very beginning and read for a while (I like to read cover to cover and not skip around) but this is the kind of book you skip around! I went straight to the "4 year old" to gain some insight into my little boy who is becoming already a little man! (More of that in a moment). The passage I liked best explaining the 4 year old is "for the moment he has more speed than direction". So true, so true... and this has given much cause for prayerful parenting!

Now for my little man. He has always been protective of me, his mother, but I have seen it increase during my pregnancy. Here are some of the things that make him my little man!

1. He gets the door and holds it open for Carolyn and I at church. (Brett drives seperately at a different time.)

2. When there is frost on my windshield and I am up on my new van trying to reach it around a huge belly, he says, "Mom, you shouldn't have to do this, Dad should. Go get him and have him do it".

3. When Brett is away at work, Cameron tells me that "he is stonger than me right now because I have the babies and he will take care of me and Carolyn while Daddy is gone." And then he procedes to do a lot of things for us!

Visit with Santa at Hearst Castle

Each year the employees are able to bring 3 guests (not sure what we'll do next year!) up to the Castle to see Santa Claus. This is our 3rd year and it is something that the kids really look forward to doing! The Castle is all decorated for Christmas and this year it was really foggy up on the hill - kind of a neat but eerie feeling.
